If you pay any attention to the mainstream media, you know that Hillary and Obama are battling it out for #1 while John Edwards is nipping at their heels; and that a few other nobodys are doing pretty much nothing worth mentioning with single digit ratings.

But wait, do I hear a voice of reason? Is someone talking who seems to actually make sense? I can barely hear him above the O’Hillary banter… in fact his name rarely makes the daily polls, further hampering his ability to get his name out to potential voters.

But his experience and knowledge, respect among both parties and many foreign leaders makes him a clear choice and I cannot figure out why nobody else is seeing this. He is an internationally respected bi-partisan leader who has deep knowledge of foreign policy, already works with leaders around the globe from Benazir Bhutto and Musharraf to leaders in Iraq and Isreal. He has a fairly gutsy plan for Iraq which he shares on his web site. And best of all, he is the only straight shooter in the age of political posturing and doubletalk nonsense.

I can’t say it nearly as well Daniel Buk on the TPM Café blog so please read it there. Also Joe Biden’s web site features a wealth of information that will help you make up your mind including interviews with him, read his plans for America, endorsements and op-ed pieces.

I know it’s a longshot. But I think if people have the chance to see and hear what he has to say and understand what he has done and can do for the country, we may just have a winner.

I admit it. I’m a diehard Democrat that has never been excited about Hillary Clinton. And yet, I’ve done my best to get “in the mood” if you will, to rally behind her as the Democratic Nominee. “I’ll warm up to her,” I keep thinking. But I never really do. Enter Barack Obama. Smart, youthful, a new direction… and all that. But again I’m uneasy. And as the race unfolds, my dread is getting worse. Just a few short weeks ago I thought Charles Manson could compete and win against whatever Republican nominee they put on the stage. But as the Republicans hone their messages and jockey for position, I’m starting to panic.

Let’s face it… nobody is as polarizing as Hillary – and Obama is just not ready. Pitting either one of them against any Republican candidate is a dream come true for Republicans! How hard would it be to wrestle away 51% of the vote from a woman who I estimate as many as 20% of the population downright despises, and whose passion and presence rivals that of a sea sponge? And if Obama gets the nod, the Republicans will immediately expose his pubescent underbelly and prove him far too wet-behind the ears to take on this overwhelming job.

So with what choice are we left? Unless we want FOUR MORE YEARS, complete with all the fixins’, we need an electable candidate who is a strong change agent, an experienced leader and peace maker, someone who understands the global landscape, and has complete integrity. We need a new choice.

After much angst, I think I’ve found someone – and no, its not John Edwards. I could go on about him as well, but that is a story for another day. The person I’m referring to is Joe Biden. Check him out. Read his web site, read what he says about the issues, check out his experience. When I do that, I see a person who has a potential to bridge the gap in this country and share a common ground with the majority of Americans and leaders abroad. Best of all, I get the feeling for the first time in a long time, that just maybe,he is someone we can trust. Tell me why I’m wrong.
